Partnership Goals reached God is faithful! Bill and Lenore report that as of August 17th their monthly financial support has increased to 100% of the minimum amount they need to return to Papua New Guinea!! "We are grateful to the Lord for his provision for our needs as we return to PNG," Bill says, "and we are trusting that the Lord will also provide for the remainder of our outgoing expenses." Their outgoing expenses include the cost of buying and shipping some of their equipment and supplies as well as the cost of new eye glasses. Visas and airline tickets in hand for September 10 departure for PNG When the Martins returned from their partnership development trip east, they discovered that their Papua New Guinea entry visas had arrived in the mail while they were gone. Praise the Lord! They took that as an indication that they should proceed with their airline bookings. By the first week of August they also had their airline tickets in hand. They will fly from Dallas to Los Angeles on September 4th, and on to PNG September 10th. |

Jason hops the American version of the "PMV" back to Texas
In Papua New Guinea, the most common form of road transportation between towns and cities are small privately owned vans and busses. These operate almost everywhere there are roads and are typically loaded to the gills with people and their cargo. The overflow of cargo is tied to the roof. They are called PMVs, which stands for "Public Motor Vehicle." Each experience riding in a PMV is unique in its own way, and is an interesting way to meet "real" Papua New Guineans. When Jason decided to travel from California back to Texas to resume his studies at LeTourneau University, he took the Greyhound bus. When asked about his traveling experience, he said, "It was the American version of the PMV." Needless to say, he met some "real" Americans!Joel and Rebecca move back to Indiana
On the weekend of August 21st, Joel and Rebecca Martin will be moving from North Carolina back to Upland, Indiana. Joel has been offered a full-time job working as a systems administrator for Taylor University for the coming academic year. He reports that, as an employee of the University, he will be able to take the few remaining classes to complete his degree requirements, tuition free.
