Joel & Rebecca tie the knot
in California ceremony

"This day I will marry my friend." That announcement was fulfilled on June 5th when Joel and Rebecca were married in a beautiful ceremony at Newport Mesa Christian Center in Southern California.

Two puzzle pieces... (20953 bytes)

"Like two puzzle pieces coming together, they make a perfect match" said Joel's best man when he offered a toast to the newlywed couple. Joel and Rebecca spent their honey moon traveling and visiting sights (including the romantic Grand Canyon) across the USA to North Carolina where Joel has a job for the summer.

Jason finds summer work

Jason reports that he has been finding work in Southern California through a temporary agency there. He plans to work there until the first week of August, then return to Texas to spend a little time with mom and dad before they head back to Papua New Guinea. Jason plans to resume his studies at LeTourneau University on August 31st.

First draft of Lindrou New Testament nears completion

In the latter part of June the Martins received the draft of Revelation chapters 11-15 by e-mail from national translator Charles Kowak in PNG. Isn't technology wonderful! Charles is currently translating the remaining chapters of Revelation. Another translator named Belden, who is helping the translation project, is translating the remaining chapters of the book of Matthew.

Martins’ Partnership Development Approaching Goals

Bill & Lenore praise the Lord for two new prayer and financial partners. They also report that a revised financial quota has resulted in an increase in their monthly financial support to 87% of the minimum amount they need to return to Papua New Guinea in September this year! Keep praying!!

Martins awaiting PNG entry visas for September 10 departure

On July 6th the Martins mailed their passports and documentation to the PNG embassy in Washington DC. They have also booked their flights from Dallas back to PNG (September 4th to Los Angeles, and September 10th to PNG).

Prayer Items:

þ  Praise the Lord for the testimony of God's faithfulness and love which was evident in Joel and Rebecca's wedding. Praise the Lord also that Joel's job at Taylor University has been finalized for this Fall.

o  Pray for Joel and Rebecca's adjustments to married life and for safety as they travel back to Indiana at the end of the summer. Pray also for them as they search for housing in Upland, IN, and begin paying off their school debts.

þ  Praise the Lord that Jason has found work for the summer in California, and that he is saving toward his school expenses at LeTourneau.

o  Pray for Jason's as he prepares for his second year at LeTourneau University, and as he contemplates staying in the USA as mom and dad to return to PNG in September.

þ  Praise the Lord for Belden's help in completing the draft of the Lindrou New Testament.

o  Pray for Belden as he translates Matthew chapters 22-28. Pray also that his hand-written draft of Matthew chapters 14-21, which were airmailed to us, will arrive safely, and in time for us to keyboard them into the computer before we leave Dallas on September 4th to return to PNG.

þ  Praise the Lord for the recent addition of prayer and financial partners to our team.

o  Pray for the remaining partners we need to reach our goal of 100% by September.

þ  Praise the Lord that we were able to complete our documentation for PNG entry visas on July 6th.

o  Pray that our PNG visas will be processed and delivered to us well in advance of our scheduled departure from Dallas on September 4th.

þ  Praise the Lord for our office administrators and staff who work so hard to keep the organization functioning so well.

o  Pray for the home office staff as they move their operations from Huntington Beach to Orlando, Florida.

þ  Praise the Lord that New Testaments in eleven language groups in PNG were dedicated in 1998!

o  Pray for the Lindrou team as they complete the first draft of the Lindrou New Testament, work on the long process of revision, and begin planning for a future dedication!

We thank you for your part in the ministry of Bible Translation for the Lindrou people of Papua New Guinea.
In his matchless grace,
