It is one of the main parts of a missionary calling to care about people - their physical, emotional, mental, and spiritual needs. But, who cares for the missionary? Often, home churches and sponsoring organizations are too far away to provide any significant care for today's missionary working in remote areas of the world. In recent years many mission organizations have established programs and have assigned people to provide member care for their workers both on the field and in their home countries.
With over 20 years of experience in living in a different culture we know what prolonged stress can do in the life and family of missionaries. As we have seen our sons leave the nest, Lenore has been able to devote more of her time to intercession for mission leaders, and to finding other ways of caring for our fellow workers on the field. Caring for others is what it's all about.
