Whole family now in Texas

Toward the end of last year Jason was the only family member who was living in Texas. Then, in December the Lord prompted Lenore and I to move from South Carolina back to Texas. Finally, in mid August Joel and Rebecca left Nashua, New Hampshire and relocated here to Texas so that Rebecca can attend the Baylor School of Nursing. This is the first time since 1995 that our family has been living in the same part of the world. We are looking forward to good times together!

Rebecca plans to get a Masters in Nursing during the next two years. Joel left his job in New England, and, although they will contract out for his services for a few weeks, he is looking for full-time employment here in Texas. To save money while Rebecca is going to school they are staying with Jason.

Mission minded kids

Yes, that’s Jason with the beard! In March, April and July our kids were involved in mission trips to Jamaica, Africa and Haiti. Jason was an adult leader for a group of young people that went to minister in Jamaica for 9 days in March. He was involved in mentoring members of the youth group in witnessing and practical service at Jamaican orphanages.

Joel and Rebecca went to Kenya and Sudan in Africa as part of a delegation from their church for 3 weeks in April.

Then in July, they led a group of young people from their church to Haiti for 10 days.

Adapt It developments

I have been working hard to get the cross-platform version of Adapt It ready for prime time use by translators on the field. I was able to create a Papua New Guinea Tok Pisin language interface which should prove useful among PNG’s many national translators.

Tok Pisin is the trade language that is spoken as a second language by about 4 million people there. I also spent a lot of time getting Adapt It to be able to switch at will between different languages for its interface (program menus and messages). Now Adapt It is available in French, Spanish, Indonesian, Russian, Portuguese, PNG Tok Pisin, and Mandarin Chinese as well as English. The new interface switching feature will allow a translator to prepare a custom interface for Adapt It without the need for us to prepare a special version of the program for each language.

Update on our financial situation

We praise the Lord for our faithful partners! Continue to pray that the Lord will encourage new financial and prayer partners to join our team this year as we continue to serve him in seeing a Bible translation started for every language that needs one by the year 2025!
