April 2010 |
On Jason’s 30th birthday last October his good friend Anne organized a birthday party in which she and several other friends gave Jason the gift of a sky-diving experience. So, on April 3rd Jason dove from the sky…
… all the way down to his knee – and asked Anne to marry him! We understand that she said “Yes!” and have heard that they are planning a June 12th wedding.*

“Nyindrou Advance” is the name of a 3-year multi-faceted funding project that we hope to see funded to help the Nyindrou translation program in PNG move ahead in Scripture promotion and expand into a multi-language Bible translation program – utilizing Adapt It to translate the Scriptures into several other Manus Island languages related to Nyindrou. This project is designed to raise funds to meet the following needs:
v Luke Video Upgrade. Replace the worn out components of the audio-visual equipment and generator used to show the Luke (Jesus) Film in remote Nyindrou villages. The Gospel of Luke in dramatized video has been effective in changing Nyindrou lives for the past 7 years but the existing video components and generator are now worn out and need replacements. Cost: $5,172.
v Computer and Solar Power Upgrades. Upgrade the low power computers and solar chargers for each of the five kits being used as tools for adapting the Scriptures of the Nyindrou New Testament into neighboring Manus languages. Cost: $4,944.
v Printing Supplies. Provide printing supplies to produce drafts of the Scriptures being translated by nationals using Adapt It. Cost: $498 per year for 3 years.
v Boat Fuel for Bible Translation. Provide outboard motor fuel for national translator Charles Kowak to make regular visits to remote locations around Manus Island, as he provides training, supervision and encouragement for those nationals using Adapt It, and to show the popular Luke video in the Nyindrou villages. The cost of fuel on Manus for Charles’ outboard motor is over $7 per gallon – a single village visit takes about 15 gallons! Cost: $444 per month for three years.
v Air Fares to PNG. Provide air fares for Bill and Lenore Martin to visit PNG and provide training and coordination for the Nyindrou Advance later this year. Cost: $8,000.
The Nyindrou Advance is a big step of faith for us, especially as we are relying on the Lord to bring our own ministry support up to 100%, but we believe this project will produce much fruit among the Nyindrou and other language groups of Manus Island PNG. If you are interested in contributing to the Nyindrou Advance in PNG, donations should be made payable to “Wycliffe Bible Translators” with a note specifying “For Nyindrou Advance in PNG Account #837753.” Click on this Nyindrou Advance link for more details.
For the month of March our daughter-in-law Rebecca traveled to Ethiopia and Sierra Leone Africa with her fellow nurse practitioners in training at Baylor University. They had a wonderful time of medical ministry and relationship building on both sides of Africa. |
We thank you for your part in our ministry!
“You did not choose me; I chose you and appointed you to go and bear much fruit, the kind of fruit that endures. And so the Father will give you whatever you ask of him in my name.” (John 15:16).
