Thankfulness

I would love to be able to write personal notes to those of you who have written emails and personal notes to us but because of neuropathy it is difficult to write or type so I decided to write a general email note to everyone. Thank you for understanding.

Celebrating Thanksgiving helps us to focus on things we are thankful for:

Chemotherapy is finished

I (Lenore) am very thankful to be done with chemo therapy treatments. The six months of treatments pretty much ravished my body. The chemo drugs caused things like nausea, fatigue, brain fog, hair loss, sore mouth & neuropathy. As if that weren’t enough, during the six months I also made one trip to the emergency room because of a very high fever, had a cap on one of my teeth pop off and had a week of intense lower back pain.

Oh, and I also managed to fall and slip on a wet floor and badly sprained my ankle which meant having to wear a special boot for six weeks.

I am happy to report that my energy and stamina are slowly returning. The doctor said it could take up to a year for the effects of the chemotherapy to be gone. I am still dealing with neuropathy which means my hands and feet (especially my fingers and toes) are sensitive/painful.

Family

God has blessed us with two wonderful sons and daughters-in-law and now two  grandchildren who were born shortly after my chemo therapy treatments ended. What a wonderful blessing.

The body of Christ

I have often been overwhelmed with emotion this past year to see the body of Christ at work. I am amazed and humbled at the number of people who have written, called or sent cards telling us that they were praying for us. It’s hard to find words to express my gratitude for you all, but thank you so much for your prayers for Bill and I as we traveled the “cancer adventure” together.

We are also grateful for those who helped us in practical ways: Thank you to those who provided meals, cleaned our house and who sent extra funds to help with medical expenses. We are blessed and are very grateful.

Lenore (and for Bill)
