Jason Visiting PNG

"Welcome back to PNG, Jason!" Mom and Dad chimed amid welcome hugs. After an absence of two years Jason set foot again on PNG soil. He arrived at Ukarumpa on July 3rd, and traveled with his long time friend and fellow Ukarumpa classmate, Nathan Whitney.

"While we were waiting at the airline terminal in Los Angeles," says Jason, "the airline discovered that they had overbooked the economy seats, and so they bumped us up to business class. The trip was great! "

"Did you get good sleep in those nice wide seats?" Dad asked (imagining how he himself would spend the trip).

"Who could sleep? We wanted to savor every minute, traveling in style during the 17 hour trip from LA to Brisbane, Australia!" Jason responded (32 years difference in age does change one’s perspective on life somewhat!).

Jason plans to spend 7 weeks in PNG. In early July he and his friend Matt Blewett (also visiting PNG after graduating last year) are traveling with Dad and Charles out to the Lindrou area of Manus for a week July 7th - 14th.

After a difficult time of struggling with motivation during his second year at University, Jason’s time in PNG will include a good time of seeking wisdom and counsel from Dad and Mom about his future plans.

Joel & Rebecca Relocate to NH - Celebrate 1st Anniversary

At the beginning of June, Joel and Rebecca moved to Nashua, NH where Joel has taken up employment with Compaq Computers. After settling in there they celebrated their first wedding anniversary on June 5th. Has it already been a year since they were married?!

Joel recently wrote to inform us that he has now officially received his diploma from Taylor - graduating with Summa Cum Laude honors. Congratulations Joel!

Lindrou People To Set New Testament Dedication Date

One of the items of importance to settle while Bill and Charles are out on Manus is setting a date for the dedication of the Lindrou New Testament. The choice will probably be either around Christmas time 2001 or mid year 2002.

The Lindrou people first heard the gospel message with considerable difficulty through the trade language about 70 years ago. In the decades since that time many Lindrou people have wished for God’s word in their own mother-tongue. And now, after 20 years of hard work, they will have that opportunity. The dedication is a time for rejoicing and exhortation to use the translated Scriptures.

In addition to hundreds of Lindrou people, many other important guests will also be there. Will you be among them? If you are interested in attending the Lindrou New Testament dedication, and having a unique, once-in-a-lifetime experience, write to us! Once we know the exact date we will be able to supply information about estimated costs, etc.

Team to Consultant Check Last 30% of Lindrou NT in August-September

In August and September a team of Lindrou men will be traveling to Ukarumpa to complete the consultant checking of the Lindrou New Testament, and other checks that need to be done before typesetting in February 2001. Pray that the checking process will go well and be a life changing experience for the 3-4 Lindrou men who are coming from Manus on July 31st specifically to help with the checking.
